Open scientific and scholarly collaboration between scholars from all over the world is one of the cornerstones of innovation and technological advancement, and University of Cincinnati remains committed to fostering such collaboration. While the vast majority of international affiliations do not present a security risk, the Federal government has increased its attention to research in foreign countries. UC Office of Research Security and Ethics is committed to assisting researchers and faculty in navigating sponsor requirements and regulations.

Time: April 16, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location: MSB 7051

Target Audience: Faculty, Staff, Students, Researchers

Research Office: Office of the Vice President for Research

As part of the rich history of the Hutton Ethics Lectureship, Dr. Robert Klitzman, Columbia University Professor of Psychiatry, will discuss themes from his book Doctor, Will You Pray for Me?

The Hutton Lectureship in Ethics was established in 2004 by the Hutton family and the UC College of Medicine to honor John J. Hutton, MD, former dean of the college. The lecture series encourages the cultivation and maintenance of the highest standards of personal medical ethics, helping to build respect and trust for and among researchers at UC. Dr. Klitzman's talk will explore illness, death, and dying from the perspective of patient and their families, and from medical professionals, illuminate the vital role that Chaplains play in hospitals for a generally under-informed public, and offer a path forward for chaplains, healthcare providers, and patients and their families to address illness and spirituality more fully and effectively in their own lives and the lives of others.

Learning objectives for participants:
Examine the existential, spiritual and religious challenges patients and their families confront
Discuss how chaplains can help patients and families confront these challenges.
Explore how physicians, nurses, chaplains and other providers can enhance their abilities to address these concerns

Please RSVP by April 10th
